Codemasters has released a new trailer of F1 2010, but unlike previous ‘developer diaries’ it features pure gameplay footage. Much of the footage in the video is from the Sepang and Spa circuits but there is also a brief first look at the Valencia Street Circuit.
Eutechnyx and System 3 have announced their next title, Ferrari: The Race Experience will be hitting PlayStation 3 and Wii on September 16th. The game is believed to be a reworked version of Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli and will include all of the cars and tracks from that game, including all of its DLC. Additionally, Ferrari’s new 548 Italia and 599XX will make an appearance.
The title will be available exclusively as a digital download on PS3 and features “brand new street and racing circuits” and a new career mode. This new singleplayer mode is split into three categories – GT Race, Road GT and Classic Cars. GT Race features Ferrari’s race cars, such as the F430 Challenge and aforementioned 599XX, Road GT is filled with the company’s top tourers such as the California and Classic Cars will feature a variety of Ferrari models from the past.
Sony has announced that a demo of the PS3 version of Modnation Racers is now available to download from the PlayStation Store. The 1001MB file is available in both North America and Europe ahead of the game’s release this week.
The full PSP version of the game is also available to download and carries a surprisingly low price. Those in the UK can purchase it for just £16.99 – a full £8.00 cheaper than the asking price for the UMD version at GAME.
It’s not all good news though, as Sony is clearly looking to capitalise on used game sales. A download named “Online Entitlement” is also available, with instructions to “download only if the in-pack Online Entitlement Voucher is missing, or is no longer valid from your retail copy.” It goes for £7.99.
To celebrate last weekend’s 24h Nürburgring, Sony revealed that three variants of the legendary circuit will be included in Gran Turismo 5 when it goes on sale later this year. Players will be able to take on the classic Nordschliefe and the new Grand Prix Circuit located to its South East. Additionally, the 24h track on which the endurance race is contested will also be included, which challenges drivers with the two circuits joined together. Gamers may remember this variant from its outings in PGR3 and PGR4.
Six new screenshots of the German circuit were also released:
Brazil’s Autódromo José Carlos Pace (more commonly referred to as Interlagos) is the scene for today’s F1 2010 screenshots. There’s an emphasis on the weather system in the game and both images include a good perspective on how raindrops and spray will appear when racing in wet conditions. As before, placeholder 2009 cars are present but the final game will include the full 24 car 2010 grid when it is released in September.
As promised earlier in the week, Codemasters has released the third of its F1 2010 developer diaries. Today’s instalment goes in-depth about the game’s weather system, highlighting key features including:
Heat haze
Differing rain intensities
Tyre temperatures
Puddles, rivers and other types of standing water
Wet weather handling
Individual simulation of every car’s effect on track
The two minute video is the third in a series of six due to arrive before the summer. As with all material released so far, 2009 placeholder cars are used but the final game will feature all 24 2010 cars, including the three new teams – Lotus, Virgin and Hispania. Check out the full video below:
In a somewhat unexpected move, a demo of Black Rock Studio’s Split/Second Velocity appeared on Xbox Live this morning. The 880MB download includes the game’s infamous airport circuit, complete with all of the powerplays and destruction it has to offer in the full game. There isn’t a car choice in the demo but there is a chance to sample the ingeniously located HUD.
The demo is available now to all Xbox Live members but won’t appear on the PlayStation Store (for PS3) until May 11th.
A number of previews of F1 2010 appeared in print publications in the UK and the rest of Europe over the past few weeks and Codemasters has been kind enough to release digital versions of all of the screenshots used. As before, the 2010 cars haven’t yet been implemented so 2009 cars are used.
Codemasters sent out the boxart for F1 2010 this morning. It’s not very revealing, but it does confirm reports that the PC version will be Games for Windows LIVE enabled. Check out the full version after the jump.
Codemasters is being very open about development of F1 2010, going as far as to release a bunch of images which don’t even have the final set of cars included. Today they’ve also released the second in their series of “Developer Diaries”, this time focusing on car handling in the game. As usual, there’s comment from the design and production teams as well as former Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson. Check out the video below:
