September 19th, 2008 by Neil @ 11:09amNo comments yet

Codemasters has just revealed the details of the first piece of downloadable content for Race Driver: GRID. The game will be seeing eight new cars and four new achievements for an undisclosed price some time this autumn.

The cars which will be included are: McLaren F1 GTR, TVR Cerbera Speed 12, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Honda S2000, Nissan GT-R (S-G2008), Volkswagen Nardo and the Pontiac Firebird Trans AM. Most notably, the Volvo C30 will slot into the touring car class which currently only has two vehicles to choose from.

The four new achievements are worth a total of 100 points and are all related to your antics using the aforementioned cars. Later in the year Codemasters will also be launching a second DLC pack including Australian V8 Supercars and the Bathurst track.

Microsoft slashes Forza 2 DLC prices

In what can only be deciphered as a move to bolster support for an ageing racer, Microsoft today announced that it has dropped the price of four of Forza Motorsport 2′s downloadable content packs. Until the end of October you can get your hands on the September, December and March car packs along with the Twin Ring Motegi track pack for 240 MSP. That’s a saving of 40% on their original 400MSP prices.

System 3′s Ferrari Challenge has proved popular since it was eventually released for PS3. However, fans who had been following the game’s progress on its official website will note that some of the promised tracks there didn’t make it into the final release of the game.

The precise reason for this remains unclear but it seems they will eventually be hitting your PS3 as DLC. Brands Hatch, Hungaroring, Laguna Seca, Donnington, Suzuka, Catalunya and Monaco will all be coming to the game with a couple of others which the company isn’t prepared to announce yet.

System 3 has announced the details of the first pack of downloadable content for its single-manufacturer game, Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli. According to Eurogamer, the pack will include the Nurburgring F1 circuit (but not the legendary Nordschleife) and five new cars which of course are all emblazoned with the prancing horse.

Among the new cars will be the Enzo Ferrari, a car which many may argue should have been included from the start. Alongside this there’s the recently released F430 Scuderia and a blast from the past with the P4. The bigger and heavier end of Ferrari’s line is also represented with the 612 Scaglietti and the more modern 599 Fiorano.

The pack is supposedly coming at the end of August and will be for the PlayStation 3 version of the game only.
