F1 2010 is the second title in the series from Codemasters and the first to be released for 'current generation' consoles and PC. The company claims that the game will feature the most advanced weather simulation ever seen in a racing game, with the track surface able to simulate different levels of dampness in different places. The game is based on an F1 season that sees one new circuit added to the calendar - the Korean International Circuit - and the return of the Canadian Grand Prix. All three new teams - Lotus, Virgin and Hispania - are to be included as well as Michael Schumacher and the reformed Mercedes GP team.
The PC version will be Games for Windows LIVE enabled, including a separate list of achievements to the Xbox 360 version.

Brazil’s Autódromo José Carlos Pace (more commonly referred to as Interlagos) is the scene for today’s F1 2010 screenshots. There’s an emphasis on the weather system in the game and both images include a good perspective on how raindrops and spray will appear when racing in wet conditions. As before, placeholder 2009 cars are present but the final game will include the full 24 car 2010 grid when it is released in September.
As promised earlier in the week, Codemasters has released the third of its F1 2010 developer diaries. Today’s instalment goes in-depth about the game’s weather system, highlighting key features including:

Differing rain intensities
Tyre temperatures
Puddles, rivers and other types of standing water
Wet weather handling
Individual simulation of every car’s effect on track
The two minute video is the third in a series of six due to arrive before the summer. As with all material released so far, 2009 placeholder cars are used but the final game will feature all 24 2010 cars, including the three new teams – Lotus, Virgin and Hispania. Check out the full video below:
